Description (RT-940AX):
The Rotel RT-940AX tuner was designed to deliver life-like sound and is a natural extension of the love of music. Introduced and built between 1995 and 2001, the RT-940AX tuner offers up to 20 preset radio stations in memory. Being manufactured by the Rotel company, known for designing and manufacturing high-quality, high-performance audio electronics for over 30 years, this tuner has very good features that ensure reliable reception of high-quality radio stations and music in the hifi system. It also comes with a remote control for added convenience. The Rotel RT-940AX sounds clear and detailed, without the horrible compression you normally get with tuners. A look inside the chassis shows a large PCB with excellent build quality. Stereo broadcasts have a defined sound. AM reception is also good. Even before connecting the internal FM or AM antenna wires, reception seems almost perfect.

Description (RB-970BX):
The Rotel RB-970BX power amplifier is an excellent sounding one that allows music lover to set up a competent system is a moderate sized room. It is rated for 60 watts/channel into 8 ohm, but weights heavier than many mass market brand receivers rated twice the power. It is a high current design with plenty of voltage headroom and current drive reserve. Its weight comes from a heavy duty toroidal transformer with separate winding for each channel and the beefy output heatsink. It has 4 8,300µF/50V capacitors for the +/- 47VDC power supply. The Rotel sports a triple-Darlington push-pull output stage, with two pairs of bipolar output devices per channel. The Rotel is bridgeable to mono configuration by flicking a switch on the back panel, in which case it’s rated at 180W into 8 ohms which demonstrate its headroom in stereo mode.
The Rotel’s sound is softer and easier character. Voices were clearer and less congested, and the system sounded much more musical and pleasant overall with the RB-960BX. In comparison to a similar price range Adcom GFA-535II which sounded very forward and aggressive, the Rotel was more laid-back and relaxed
