The Grand Concert loudspeaker which has required more than 1000 design plans throughout its development stages, is the culmination of professional craftsmanship and a passionate desire. It represents the very heart and soul of TRIANGLE.
Its structure comprises three distinct enclosures designed to ensure elimination of standing waves and vibration. The considerable weight of the loudspeaker (100 kg) required the development of the new exclusive Fixocal locking system, which locks the three enclosures together with up to 1.6 tons of clamping pressure.
Grand Concert is not just a technological showcase; all of triangle’s passion for music has gone into it. We have pushed our thrive for perfection to its limit. Bass is abysmally deep, the mids and highs simply go beyond the walls, you can feel the ambiance in the hall and it is totally gripping. At last, you can now enjoy a genuinely realistic listening experience. With the Grand Concert, triangle’s engineers have managed to blend together seemingly incompatible elements: the full texture of the timbre coupled with sublime airiness and power which conserves all its femininity.
In collaboration with Hutchinson, we developed an exclusive coupling process for the T16PG midrange driver. The resulting elimination of any vibration creates a sound image which is totally transparent and exceptionally sharp. This principle of mechanical coupling is drawn upon for the configuration of the filters which are separate and isolated, each one functioning uniquely within its own individual module.
The TZ2900 tweeter is an exquisite combination of state-of-the-art engineering and meticulous tooling. The horn was modeled through extensive computer simulations, which present the ideal profile in relation to mechanical and acoustic characteristics of its dome design.
This form reduces extremes in directivity above 15 kHz. We also added a counter-cap to the motor in order to limit the distortion at the low end of the tweeter’s tonal spectrum. This cap contains a duct lined with damping material that reduces reflections in the rear waves. Located just in front of the dome is a phase plug, which has been carefully designed to limit distortion and regulate the upper end of the sound spectrum.
The tweeter provides an exceptionally smooth and fluid musical quality whilst ensuring accurate reproduction and realistic dynamics.
The new T16GM F100 is the culmination of many years of research and development that TRIANGLE has invested in achieving the best in wide- range loudspeaker systems. This diaphragm uses a new exponential profile and contains cellulose fibre material, in the established TRIANGLE tradition.
It features an ultra-light anti-vortex polypropylene nose cone covered in specially formulated latex to prevent aerodynamic disturbances. The power handling capacity has been uniquely improved by developing a heat transmission ring located behind the motor yoke. This heat sink provides excellent heat dissipation between the motor and the basket.
TRIANGLE’s engineers took it upon themselves to design an electro-dynamic transducer capable of covering – with the least distortion and the best possible linearity – a frequency band from 70 Hz to 4 kHz.
In order to obtain high level performance in the extremely low (28 – 35 Hz) frequency range with minimum distortion, we designed an SVA diaphragm (honeycomb structure, green sandwiched foam). This cone-shaped diaphragm is characterized by a ‘sandwich’ structure, with two glass layers containing a cellular material that provides the ideal combination of mass damping and rigidity to the moving coil.
The MAGELLAN GRAND CONCERT subwoofer can easily handle very low frequencies (down to 28 Hz) within -3dB of the reference level. We have employed special high-purity metals to machine the magnetic motor’s pole pieces. A four-layer voice coil provides a linear displacement of ± 7mm. The LHSTM 2 system (the heat conduction ring) is also used on the T21GM order to increase heat handling capacity.
The basket’s unique design allows for maximum clearance of the radiating rear surface of the diaphragm. Its side vents improve the damping of the voice coil. The T16GM F100 and T21GM models are also equipped with specific connector blocks that were designed in order to ensure that the cables from the filter are uniformly clamped.
